Atlassian is phasing out its Data Center product line on March 28, 2029. As the company announced, the transition will occur gradually over a three-year period, with the first changes taking effect on March 30, 2026.
For years, Atlassian has pursued a cloud-first strategy, investing heavily in the subscription-based Atlassian Cloud. Given this, the announcement isn’t entirely surprising, but it still marks a significant change for many companies. In this blog article, we’ll give you an overview of the upcoming changes. As an Atlassian partner, we at Seibert are here to support you throughout this transition with our experience, clarity, and focus on what’s important to you.
Atlassian’s Timeline for the End of Data Center
The deprecation will take place in several phases, designed to give companies time to plan and prepare:
- March 30, 2026 - End of Sale for New Customers: The sale of new Data Center licenses and Marketplace apps will end for new customers.
- March 30, 2028 - End of Sale for Existing Customers: This is the last date for existing customers to renew their Data Center and app licenses.
- March 28, 2029 - End of Life: All Data Center licenses and related Marketplace app licenses will expire and switch to a read-only mode.
Which Products Are Affected by the End of Life?
The End of Life applies to the following Data Center products and Marketplace apps:
Jira Align Data Center is not affected by the Data Center End of Life.
Bitbucket Data Center is an exception: Atlassian will provide a new dual license that allows access to both Bitbucket Data Center and Bitbucket Cloud. This will enable customers to continue working in the Data Center environment even after the End of Life. This new license will be available from mid-2026.
Services Atlassian Will Provide Until the End of Life
Until March 28, 2029, Atlassian will continue to provide the following services to Data Center customers:
To ensure product security, there may also be additional technical updates, such as platform fixes or support for new browsers.
