Overview

This bootcamp is designed for teams that don’t just want to get to know Forge, but want to use it productively. You’ll work directly on a Forge app that solves a real problem, with production-grade tools, best practices, and a clear architecture.

The outcome is more than knowledge: you’ll return to your team with a working Forge app prototype and a clean setup as the starting point for your project.

Prerequisites
Basic JavaScript knowledge is recommended. Prior Forge experience is not required. If needed, we’ll include short refreshers.

Bootcamp Content

Day 1 – Foundations & setup

We build the foundation: architecture, APIs, extension points, plus a clean setup that enables you to continue independently afterwards.

  • Forge architecture, APIs, extension points, events
  • Tech stack: Node.js, React, TypeScript
  • Environment setup (Forge CLI, test instances)
  • App design: idea, architecture, modules

Day 2 – Development & deep dives

Now we build: frontend & backend, UI decisions, persistence, plus best practices for lifecycle and quality.

  • Frontend & backend development in Atlassian Forge
  • Forge UI Kit vs. Custom UI
  • Endpoints and persistence with Forge KVS
  • Development lifecycle & best practices
  • Optional deep dives (e.g., type safety, client optimization)

Outcomes

After the bootcamp, your team will have:

  • a working Forge app prototype you can continue developing
  • a clean, professional Forge development environment
  • documented architecture and technology decisions
  • a solid understanding of Forge best practices
  • the confidence to continue independently instead of starting from scratch

No. The bootcamp is adapted to your level. JavaScript fundamentals are helpful and recommended.

This bootcamp is fully remote, and can be run in a timezone that works best for your team. We have Atlassian experts on staff across North American and European timezones.
