Zusammenfassung

Atlassian investiert seit etlichen Jahren massiv in die Abonnement-basierte Produktlinie Atlassian Cloud. Dort sind große Fortschritte gemacht worden und der Hersteller sieht die Cloud als die “natürliche Zukunft” an. Die bisher bestehende On-Premise-Produktlinie Atlassian Data Center wird in 2029 eingestellt. Bis dahin müssen Kunden die Migration in die Cloud durchgeführt haben. Wir raten dir deshalb dringend, unabhängig davon, ob dein Unternehmen schon Kunde bei uns ist oder nicht, einen Beratungstermin mit uns zu vereinbaren.     • Die Änderungen im Detail

    – Alles was du wissen musst

    Ab dem 30. März 2026 können Kunden keine Neulizenzen mehr für die Data-Center-Produkte erwerben. Wer bis dahin noch eine Lizenz erwirbt oder schon jetzt eine besitzt, kann seine Atlassian-Instanzen (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket sowie Marketplace-Apps für Data Center) bis zum 28. März 2029 ohne Probleme weiterhin betreiben. Wartung und Support von Atlassian sind in diesem Zeitraum gewährleistet, eine Weiterentwicklung der Plattform wird jedoch nicht stattfinden. Der 30. März 2028 ist der letzte Termin, bis zu dem bestehende Kunden ihre Data-Center-Lizenzen verlängern können. Nach dem 28. März 2029 tritt das “End of Life” von Data Center in Kraft: Alle Instanzen werden auf einen Read-only-Modus umgestellt.

    Was bedeutet End of Sale und End of Support?

    Ab dem 30. März 2026 werden keine neuen Lizenzen für Data-Center-Produkte von Atlassian mehr verkauft. Dieser Verkaufsstopp gilt auch für alle Marketplace-Apps.

    Wechsel zur Cloud

    Wenn du über eine bestehende Data-Center-Lizenz verfügst, hast du bis 2029 Zeit, in die Cloud zu wechseln. Atlassian stellt dafür diverse Tools und Ressourcen zur Verfügung, um einen möglichst reibungslosen Umstieg zu ermöglichen.

    Begrenzte Funktionsfähigkeit

    Bis zum 28. März 2029 wird Atlassian Sicherheits-Updates für die Data-Center-Produkte ausliefern und die Funktionsfähigkeit von Konnektoren gewährleisten.

    Read-only-Modus

    Danach wird der Support für Data Center gänzlich eingestellt. Es wird keine Produkt-Updates mehr geben. Atlassian zufolge werden entsprechende Produktinstanzen nicht mehr aktiv nutzbar sein und in einen Read-only-Modus schalten.

    Welche Produkte sind betroffen?

    Jira Align Data Center ist nicht betroffen. Eine zweite Ausnahme bildet Bitbucket Data Center. Atlassian wird eine neue Lizenz bereitstellen, die sowohl Zugriff auf Bitbucket Data Center als auch auf Bitbucket Cloud ermöglicht. Damit können Kunden auch nach dem End of Life in der Data-Center-Umgebung arbeiten. Diese neue Lizenz wird ab Mitte 2026 verfügbar sein.

    Atlassian has announced that the Data Center product line will be discontinued. The first changes will take effect as early as March 30, 2026. For your company, this means the time to switch to the cloud has come. You’ll find all the important information on this page:

    Summary

    Atlassian has been investing heavily in the subscription-based Atlassian Cloud product line for many years. Significant progress has been made, and the vendor sees the cloud as the “natural future.” The existing on-premise product line, Atlassian Data Center, will be discontinued in 2029. By then, customers must have completed their migration to the cloud. Therefore, we strongly advise you, whether your company is already a customer of ours or not, to schedule a consultation with us.     – Everything you need to know

    As of March 30, 2026, customers will no longer be able to purchase new licenses for Atlassian’s Data Center products. Anyone who acquires a license by then, or already has one, can continue to operate their Atlassian instances (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, and Marketplace apps for Data Center) without issues until March 28, 2029. Maintenance and support from Atlassian are guaranteed during this period, but there will be no further platform development. March 30, 2028, is the last date by which existing customers can renew their Data Center licenses. After March 28, 2029, the “End of Life” for Data Center takes effect: all instances will be switched to a read-only mode.

    What do End of Sale and End of Support mean?

    Sales Stop

    As of March 30, 2026, no new licenses for Atlassian Data Center products will be sold. This sales stop also applies to all Marketplace apps.

    Switch to the Cloud

    If you have an existing Data Center license, you have until 2029 to switch to the cloud. Atlassian provides various tools and resources to enable the smoothest possible transition.

    Limited Functionality

    Until March 28, 2029, Atlassian will deliver security updates for the Data Center products and ensure the functionality of connectors.

    Read-only Mode

    After that, support for Data Center will be completely discontinued. There will be no more product updates. According to Atlassian, the corresponding product instances will no longer be actively usable and will switch to a read-only mode.

    Which products are affected?

    Jira Align Data Center is not affected. A second exception is Bitbucket Data Center. Atlassian will provide a new license that allows access to both Bitbucket Data Center and Bitbucket Cloud. This will enable customers to continue working in the Data Center environment even after the End of Life. This new license will be available from mid-2026.

    • Fewer than 1,000 users: Dedicated self-service tools designed to make the transition as smooth as possible.
    • More than 1,000 users: New, free FastShift Program that offers a strategic partnership and can significantly shorten timelines (from 12–16 months to just 2–6 months).
